Summary
Simple ascent of Picu la Xamoca and returning by the same route, with views of the sea, the Redes park and the Picos de Europa. The summit ridge involves some simple scrambling.

Route: The first part of PR.AS-123.
1. Go to the village of Campiellos, approximately 1.7 km from Rioseco.
2. From the main square or parking area, walk uphill looking for signposts for PR.AS-123, to the “Centro Sociocultural” by the disabled car park.
3. A concrete track leads uphill about 30m to the sign “Solo Vehiculos Autorizados”.
4. Follow the painted waymark signs along a farm track for about 3.5 kilometres, as it curves around the hillside qbove the Comillera valley.
5. Reach the “Mirador Llagos” viewpoint and picnic area.
6. Follow the track briefly and then head up towards the prominent ridge, looking for a trough and a path signpost near an electricity pylon.
7. Follow painted waymarks and paths to the summit where there is a prominent plaque, scrambling along or near the ridge.
8. On the ridge and summit there are views of the Parque Natural de Redes, the Picos de Europa, and the Cantabrian sea.
